We left the hotel at 5:15 am to make our 7:45 flight to Ahmedabad in order to make our 10:30 reservation to visit the Calico Textile Museum. With only 2 small tours a day, this is a coveted visit that only lasts about 2 hours. Housed in the 17th century estate of the Sarhabai family, this collection of Indian textiles (plus a few heritage imports) is beyond extraordinary. Sadly, no photography is allowed in order to help conserve the collection. Between the textiles themselves, the buildings and the grounds, it is a visual treasure trove. My head is still spinning!
Following a nice lunch, we have just checked into our hotel, The House of MG. Here is my sitting room where, regrettably, not much sitting is likely to happen.
Next, some pictures of my bed chamber:
Stepping out of the airport in Ahmedabad this morning was such a relief. Yes, there's pollution. And yes, everyone still honks like crazy. But the scale and density is human. There's a touch of cool in the air. And it's exciting!
